"Our mission is to provide hospitality and programming that promote God-inspired life-changing experiences
through retreat ministry, outdoor school and summer camp. "

Established in 1946, Camp Pecometh is the place to come for fun and fellowship all year around. Owned and operated by the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church, Camp Pecometh is located in Centreville, Maryland, on the Chester River, about 1.5 hours from the Baltimore/ Washington area.

Camp Goals:
1.  To provide a program and setting so that campers and staff may experience the presence and love of God and grow in appreciation and knowledge of God as revealed through Jesus Christ.
2.  To provide the opportunity to experience living in a Christian community.
3.  To utilize the uniqueness of the camp setting to provide campers with a varity of activities in a natural setting to increase both their awareness of God's creation and their place in it.

Summer camp season runs from June thru August,
Traditional Camps, Adventure Camps, Aquatics Camps, and Specialty Camps

The majority of programs run from Sunday to Friday. Mini-camp lasts two nights. Day Camp runs from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Campers live with their counselors 24 hours a day. Counselors are at least 18 years old and are hired through a series of interviews, referrals, and applications. Most of our staff come from local area churches, and many have been campers here at Pecometh. We also hire several international staffers each year through international placement agencies, where they are thoroughly screened, and offer much in the way of specialized training and the sharing of other cultures. Counselors receive professional training before summer camp begins, in accordance with the standards set forth by the American Camp Association and COMAR, the Maryland state licensing requirements for youth camps. Pecometh adheres to standards and guidelines set forth by the following organizations:

American Canoe Association
American Red Cross
    Life Guarding
    First Aid/CPR
Association for Challenge Course Technology
American Camp Association
National Association for Interpretation
US Sailing
Maryland Safe Boater, Department of Natural Resources
Project Adventure
High Five Adventure Learning Center
USA Archery

Part of the Pecometh experience includes learning about the culture of other countries through our International counselors. These staff members are hired and screened through International agencies, and offer specialized training in aquatics, recreation, and Bible study.  Approximately 15% of our counseling staff is made up of these friends from countries such as Finland, Germany, Russia, Romania, Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, and South Africa.  They have much to offer our youth, and the campers enjoy learning from them.  A registered nurse is on-site and the camp doctor is on call at all times. Modern hospital facilities are within 14 miles of the camp. Red Cross certified personnel are on duty at the pool and waterfront. Camp insurance covers accidents occurring during normal camp activities. A qualified Food Service Supervisor from Sodexho Food Services plans the meals and directs their preparation and serving.
