Lenten Devotional

LENT- A season for reflection and penitence.  A time to prepare for the celebration of Easter, the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus the Christ.

The Lenten season brings us many chances for worship and study together.  God's love surrounds us, and one more example of His Love is the Lenten Devotional booklet.  It is written and prepared by the members of Salem and Bethany United Methodist Churches every other year.  As you read and use the devotionals, we ask that you pray for the persons who wrote them.  For some, the thoughts and reflections came easy, for others not so easy, but each one is written and offered to show how God is working in their lives, and to show their love for God.

We are commanded to love.  When Jesus was asked which commandment was the greatest, he responded:

Matthew 12: 29-31 "The most important one is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord is one.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'  The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.  There is no commandment greater than these.'"

May the Lenten Season bring us closer as Christians, may we work, serve, and love as Jesus Commanded.
