The Baylis/Burton Memorial Scholarship has been established to recognize and encourage a student musician who has evidenced Christian commitment by his/her participation in the music ministry of his/her church and is serving his/her community.  A scholarship of $500.00 per year will be awarded to a student or students pursuing a college degree.

            A scholarship committee chosen from the Adult Choir of Salem United Methodist Church will meet in May to prepare a list of candidates.  The list will then be submitted to the choir for their final selection.

            In order of priority, criteria necessary for consideration of this scholarship:
                        1 - An active participant in the music ministry of Salem United Methodist Church on a regular basis.
                        2 - Following a course of study majoring in music.
                        3 - Following a course of study minoring in music.
                        4 - Following a course of study other than music.

            Nominees are required to be enrolled as full time college students (12 or more credits per semester), and must maintain a GPA of 2.5.
