| 9:00am to 4:00pm - Make a
Blanket Day
for Project Linus at Salem, sponsored by the United Methodist
Women. Be a Blanketeer and make a blanket
for a child in crisis. All levels of experience or none at all,
all are welcome. Donna can find a job for everyone. Bring a
bag lunch (Ladies of the church will provide drinks and dessert), your
sewing machine (if
you can), and scissors. Non-sewers can cut fabric and tie quilts
together. Crocheters and knitters are welcome. Nice
washable yarn will be provided for anyone who crochets or knits.
A Project Linus coordinator from Iowa sent 3 boxes of yarn to us this
summer. There is one more box coming, but it is wool and is good for
hats and scarves only. Project Linus always needs donations of
yarn, postage stamps and cash for materials and supplies. From
time to time, volunteers are needed to deliver blankets to the area
hospitals. Rob and
Donna have learned some new
techniques (at the conference) for finishing fleece blankets and hope
to share those. Also, the youth group can be given service
learning hours if they come and help. Come and bring a
friend. Hope to see everyone there. |
