9:30am to 4:45pm - Eastern Shore Area Agency on Aging and Hospice & Palliative Care of the Eastern Shore present "Family Caregiver Training - Caring for a Loved One and Nurturing Yourself.  We are approaching a caregiver crisis in America.  Families - not social service agencies, nursing homes, or government programs - are the mainstay underpinning long-term care, especially for older persons.  Caregiving can be exhausting, both physically and emotionally.  In fact, because caregiving is so emotionally draining, caregivers experience depression at three times the rate of others in their age groups.  Plus, many caregivers are so busy meeting the needs of their loved ones that they neglect their own needs.  They suffer from documented intense levels of stress, loss of income, increased tensions with spouse and children, and caregiving-related illnesses.  This session will be held at the Hospice Building in Parksley, VA.  No Cost to Attend.  Breakfast, Lunch, and Materials Provided.  Topics include: Taking Care of the Caregiver, Medication Administration, Vital Signs and Caregiver Skills, Communication, Advanced Care Planning, and Insurrance Issues.  Transportation can also be arranged during the pre-registration period.  Open to everyone in the community, but pre-registration is required.  To register, call Dawn Ranger by November 11.
